Today, the Strategic Data Project (SDP) is thrilled to announce the release of the human capital edition of the SDP Toolkit for Effective Data Use. The SDP Toolkit is a free resource guide for education agency analysts who collect and analyze data on student achievement. Completing the toolkit produces a set of basic, yet essential, human capital and college-going analyses that every education agency should have as a foundation to inform strategic management and policy decisions.
This month, US2020 launched its City Competition, a contest that will highlight and support several outstanding efforts to build STEM mentorship capacity at the local level. Up to five cities from across the country will share nearly $1 million in resources from US2020, based on their plans to significantly increase STEM mentoring for underrepresented students. The morning of Saturday, June 15 marked the beginning of the 24-hour Activate-Ed educational hackathon. "HACKtivate ED" was the brainchild of four Analyst Fellows with Education Pioneers, seeking to connect educational luminaries from San Francisco Bay Area school districts with tech sector developers to tackle key issues affecting K-12 students. The event, organized by Chian Gong, Han Hong, Thu Cung and Roxanne Phen, invited developers, designers, educators and analysts to begin a much-needed conversation.
